Twenty-eight police personnel have been suspended in Jharkhand's Bokaro district after the skeletal remains of an 18-year-old woman, who had been missing for eight months, were recovered.

The remains were found in a secluded area near Chas College, and the accused, who had been in contact with the victim for nearly three years, was apprehended following analysis of her mobile phone call detail records.

During interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime, stating that the victim had been pressuring him to marry her, which led him to plot the murder.

The victim's mother had lodged a complaint on July 24, but a case was not registered until August 4 against 'unknown persons.'

The case drew judicial scrutiny after the mother approached the Jharkhand High Court, which questioned the DGP over the alleged assault of a relative of the victim.
