At least four people have been arrested after a fire broke out in a three-storey building in Lucknow's Aliganj area, killing 15 people.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath has announced an ex-gratia of ₹5 lakh each for the family of those killed and ₹50,000 each for the injured.

A two-member Special Investigation Team has been constituted to probe the Aliganj fire tragedy.

Preliminary information suggests the fire may have started in the building's AC duct, with possible lapses in building standards being probed.

PM Narendra Modi has also announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund for the next of kin of each deceased.
