A magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck Manipur early Tuesday morning, according to National Center for Seismology (NCS). The tremor occurred at 5.50 am IST on April 21, with its epicentre located in Kamjong.
The quake originated at a depth of 62 kilometres beneath the surface, indicating a moderately deep seismic event. There were no immediate reports of major damage or casualties at the time of filing this report.
The tremors were moderate but strong enough to wake residents from their sleep. This comes as Manipur continues to suffer with shutdowns, protests and killings, with normal life disrupted across several hill and valley districts.
