AAP leaders Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia will participate in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)’s appeal against a trial court’s order discharging them in the excise policy case.
They had initially announced a boycott over a Delhi HC judge's refusal to recuse from the matter, but have since filed their vakalatnamas, or authorisation for their legal representation.
The court has noted the development and scheduled the matter to be taken up on July 16 to frame a hearing schedule.
The unprecedented face-off between Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma and Kejriwal began after the trial court discharged Kejriwal and others in the excise policy case.
Justice Sharma had stayed the trial court’s direction for departmental action against a CBI officer and deferred Enforcement Directorate proceedings.
A division bench has issued notices to Kejriwal and other AAP leaders in a contempt case initiated by Justice Sharma.
