The Aam Aadmi Party's Lok Sabha MP from Punjab's Anandpur Sahib, Malvinder Singh Kang, has slammed seven Rajya Sabha MPs who defected to the BJP, accusing them of betraying the party for personal interests.
Kang also took a dig at Ashok Kumar Mittal, the former deputy leader of the party in the Upper House, saying some of the defectors were scared of central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate and switched sides to save their businesses.
The ED had conducted extensive raids at Lovely Professional University and multiple properties linked to Mittal, who was still with the party at the time, as part of an investigation into suspected violations of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).
The raids occurred shortly after Mittal was appointed the AAP's deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha, and he joined the BJP along with five other MPs barely 10 days after the raids.
Kang also targeted Raghav Chadha, saying the party made a mistake by giving him too much power, which eventually proved to be a setback for the party.
However, Kang assured that the AAP government in Punjab remains steady, with MLAs firmly standing with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
