The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is facing accusations of political vendetta after a Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) team raided a unit of Trident Group, owned by Rajinder Gupta, who recently defected to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The PPCB team of 18 officials inspected the textile unit in Dhaula, Punjab, for several hours, collecting samples and ensuring environmental compliance.

The BJP has linked the timing of the raid to Gupta's recent political switch, while the Congress has questioned the AAP government's motives, accusing them of hypocrisy.

AAP has maintained that the allegations are baseless and called the search operation a routine exercise.

The Trident unit has previously faced scrutiny over environmental concerns, with farmers alleging pollution from the factory and its impact on crops.
