The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has emerged victorious in the Punjab civic body polls, winning 131 wards, while the Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) are tied at 28 each so far.

The results of the elections to 102 civic bodies in Punjab were declared today, with the AAP hoping to retain power in the state.

Punjab witnessed an overall voter turnout of 63.94 per cent in the General Elections to Municipalities-2026, with Nagar Panchayats recording the highest voter turnout at 76.18 per cent.

Clashes were reported between supporters of various political parties, including the Congress, AAP, BJP, and SAD, with allegations of booth capturing and violence.

Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring condemned the incidents and slammed the AAP government over the law and order situation in the state.

Former deputy mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi has alleged violation of ballot secrecy during the municipal corporation elections and demanded a high-level inquiry and re-polling.
