A team of West Midnapore police searched Trinamool Congress (TMC) national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee's house in Kolkata's Kalighat area in connection with a land fraud case.

Police went to the house looking for an accused, Sumit Roy, who is Abhishek's personal assistant.

Former chief minister Mamata Banerjee rushed to Abhishek's residence soon after being alerted.

The search lasted for over an hour, but the accused was not found, and no items were seized.

This comes at a time when Abhishek has been summoned in three different cases by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the state police's Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
