All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) legislator Dr Esakki Subaya, representing the Ambasamudhram assembly constituency, has resigned from the party to join Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). This is the fourth exit in two days, following the footsteps of his colleagues Maragatham Kumaravel, P Sathyabama, and S Jayakumar.
Subaya, who has won three times in the Ambasamudhram seat, said he took the decision after hearing comments from the people in his constituency. He was formally inducted into the ruling party after submitting his resignation to the Tamil Nadu assembly speaker.
AIADMK's Edapaddi K Palaniswami-led faction and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) have called this move 'horse-trading'. DMK President M K Stalin said, 'Those who projected themselves as a clean force have now been exposed. They have become a tragic force.'
Congress MP S. Jothimani said that the party cannot adopt different standards for Tamil Nadu and other states, and that Congress would stand with the CM C Joseph Vijay to deliver efficient governance, but cannot support all the measures that TVK decides.
