The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) is preparing to release an interim report on the Air India crash, which occurred on June 12, 2025, killing 19 people on the ground and 11 others, with one passenger surviving.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner crashed 32 seconds after taking off from the Sardar Vaalahbhai Patel International Airport in Gujarat, Ahmedabad, and investigators have determined that both engines lost thrust due to their fuel switches moving from the RUN to CUTOFF position.
The AAIB had noted in the preliminary report that the fuel switch matter was raised by the pilots, with one pilot asking why the switch had been moved to CUTOFF, while the other replied that he had not changed the position.
The interim report is expected to be released in July, with officials citing the "complex nature" of the investigation as the reason for the delay.
