An Air India flight from Bengaluru to Delhi declared a full emergency at the Indira Gandhi International Airport due to a suspected engine fire, but landed safely at around 9:30 pm on Thursday.

The Airbus A320 aircraft, carrying 171 passengers, landed on runway 29R and was later towed away.

Air India said the cockpit crew received a fire warning from one of the engines during the final approach, which was later confirmed to be true.

The crew followed standard operating procedures and safely landed the aircraft.

All passengers and crew members are safe and disembarked normally.

Air India is investigating the cause of the incident in coordination with regulatory authorities.
