Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has directed the police to investigate a series of fire accidents at construction sites in Amaravati, amid suspicions of a conspiracy behind the incidents.

A massive fire broke out at a stockyard in Rayapudi village on Monday, gutting 22 lots of permanent lubricated bundles of pipes. The cause of the incident is yet to be ascertained, but preliminary investigation suggests that an intense blaze erupted from a dump of PVC pipes.

This is the second such incident in two weeks, with a similar fire breaking out at the seed access road of the capital region on March 11. Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha has expressed concerns that the repeated incidents may be part of a deliberate attempt to disrupt development activities.

The Chief Minister has instructed authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation, examining all possible angles, including sabotage. He has also directed the strengthening of security measures, including increased police patrolling, installation of CCTV cameras, and deployment of private security personnel.
