A 24-year-old Indian student from Andhra Pradesh, Karasani Hari Krishna Reddy, has gone missing after embarking on a solo winter trip to Alaska on December 22. Reddy, who is pursuing his Master's in Texas, was last heard from on December 30, when he contacted his friends and family. His phone signal was last detected on December 31 in Denali, where he had checked into a hotel. Despite expecting to return by January 4, Reddy failed to contact his loved ones or return to Texas as planned. His credit card records show that he used a local cab service after December 31, sparking concerns among his friends and family. The Alaska police have issued a statement urging the public to come forward with any information regarding Reddy's whereabouts. With temperatures plummeting to -40 degrees Celsius in the region, the search for the missing student has become increasingly urgent. Reddy's family in Andhra Pradesh has not reached out to local authorities for assistance, but the Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Telugu Society is coordinating with local contacts in the US to help locate him. The incident serves as a reminder of the risks involved in traveling to remote and harsh environments, particularly for solo travelers.
