Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Mama Natung has revealed that the final results of a police recruitment process under the compassionate appointment scheme have been put on hold due to directions from the Gauhati High Court.
The recruitment process for 35 posts had already been conducted, but the declaration of the final results was withheld in compliance with orders issued by the Itanagar permanent bench of the court.
Natung explained that appointments under compassionate grounds are carried out strictly in accordance with the provisions laid down in the government office memorandum issued in 2022.
The government has earmarked a 5 per cent quota in the police department for compassionate appointments, and candidates must undergo qualifying assessments depending on the post offered.
Candidates applying under the compassionate scheme must clear basic qualifying procedures, including a physical efficiency test, medical examination, document verification, and a written test before being considered for appointment.
Some candidates who failed to qualify in these tests challenged the process in court, leading to the declaration of the final results being kept on hold.
