The Maharashtra government has announced plans to establish a premier music institute in honour of the late legendary singer Asha Bhosle.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis made the announcement, stating that the decision was taken at a meeting of the state cabinet.

Asha Bhosle had proposed the establishment of an institute dedicated to music, and the government will now take this proposal forward.

The institute is expected to be set up at Bandra Reclamation and will be designed to impart world-class music education to upcoming talents.

This will be the second major music institute in Mumbai, following the establishment of the Bharat Ratna Lata Dinanath Mangeshkar International College of Music and Museum in January 2022.
