Congress leader Ashok Gehlot has called on regional parties to rejoin the Congress and accept Rahul Gandhi as their leader.
This comes after Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut suggested a merger of regional parties with the Congress, with NCP (SP) leader Sharad Pawar at the helm.
Gehlot expressed his support for Raut's suggestion, saying it has merit and that the time has come to save democracy.
He urged regional parties to accept Rahul Gandhi as the leader of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), saying a clear message of a common leader would change voting patterns across the country.
