According to Jain, the total number of accidents in the city decreased from 1,218 in 2024 to 1,026 in 2025. The number of cases registered in the city last year was 5,786, a dip from 7,412 in 2024 and 9,393 in 2023. The conviction rate also improved, with 28.5% of cases resulting in convictions in 2025, compared to 4% in 2021. In addition to the decline in road fatalities, the city saw a decrease in cases related to property crimes, vehicle theft, and mobile theft. The police also made significant progress in combating drug-related crimes, registering 406 cases and arresting 555 individuals. The seized contraband items had a market value of ₹28.86 crore. With these achievements, the Assam government is committed to making the state's roads safer and reducing crime rates."
