The diplomatic row between Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Congress leader Pawan Khera escalated on Wednesday, as senior leaders from both parties engaged in a war of words.

Khera had alleged that Sarma's wife Riniki holds three passports and owns undisclosed luxury properties, leading to a criminal defamation FIR and a raid at Khera's home.

Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita rejected Khera's claims, stating that the passports were 'fake and fabricated.'

Congress leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Rahul Gandhi, condemned Sarma's remarks, calling them 'shameful' and 'unacceptable.'

BJP leaders, on the other hand, slammed Khera for making 'baseless allegations.'

The row has sparked a heated debate, with both parties trading barbs and accusing each other of dirty politics.
