In a heartwarming ceremony at Lok Bhavan, formerly the Raj Bhavan, Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya unveiled 'Good News Assam', a special publication by Doordarshan News. This inspiring collection of stories, which has been featured in a weekly programme across over 50 episodes, showcases the state's remarkable progress in various sectors. The book, which highlights 55 impactful stories, offers a glimpse into the lives of everyday heroes who are making a difference in their communities. These unsung heroes, the Governor noted, are the backbone of Assam's social fabric and their contributions are a testament to the state's resilience and collective progress. The Governor praised the vision behind Good News Assam, saying that it beautifully captures the essence of human spirit, innovation, social service, and community leadership. He noted that the publication effectively communicates the on-ground implementation of central and state welfare schemes and highlights improvements in key sectors such as health, education, agriculture, digital services, infrastructure, women's empowerment, and community development. The Governor also highlighted the significance of Lok Bhavan's commitment to nurturing people-centric initiatives, including youth skill development, leadership programmes, environmental protection, and the promotion of natural farming. The renaming of Raj Bhawan to Lok Bhavan, he said, is a strong indication that governance is being aimed toward public participation and welfare of the public. Like the Prime Minister's Mann Ki Baat, Good News Assam strengthens a participatory approach to development by giving recognition to those whose efforts inspire society. The Governor expressed hope that this initiative will inspire future generations to recognize the impact of seemingly ordinary individuals who are making a difference in their communities.
