Bengaluru witnessed its highest rainfall ever for April, with 111.5 mm recorded in 24 hours, surpassing the 2011 record of 108.6 mm.
The intense rain led to rapid waterlogging in the central business district and disrupted traffic across several key areas.
Rainfall distribution varied widely across locations, with Cottonpet recording 71 mm, Chamarajpet 69.5 mm, and Bommanahalli 61 mm.
The downpour followed an extended dry spell, with the city receiving only trace rainfall from April 1 to 28.
The sudden intensity of the rain caused widespread disruption, with roads flooded, trees uprooted, and branches snapped.
The Greater Bengaluru Authority reported 170 trees uprooted and 408 branches fallen, with 118 cleared by late night.
The weather department forecast partly cloudy skies with intermittent thundershowers over the next 36–48 hours, with winds of 30–40 kmph and maximum temperatures around 36°C.
