Bihar chief minister Samrat Choudhary has vowed to follow in the footsteps of his predecessor Nitish Kumar, promising to tackle corruption, crime, and communalism in the state.

Choudhary's government won the trust vote in the legislative assembly by voice vote on Friday, with the new chief minister listing his priorities and vowing to monitor block, circle, and police stations to promote all-around development.

He praised Kumar's National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government for working for all sections of society over the last two decades, saying that Kumar's transformative journey for Bihar needs to be continued with greater speed.

Choudhary hit out at Opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav for describing him as a 'product of Lalu school', saying that he and his family faced atrocities at the hands of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, which led to his elevation to the chief minister's post.

He attributed his elevation to Kumar's willpower, saying that had Kumar not been there, Lalu Prasad Yadav would have never become a leader, let alone the chief minister.
