The Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Andhra Pradesh police questioned senior IPS officer M Sunil Naik for nearly 7 hours over an alleged custodial assault case involving former MP K Raghu Ramakrishnam Raju in May 2021.
Naik, currently serving as Inspector General of Fire and Homeguards Services in Bihar, appeared at the central crime police station in Guntur, where investigators grilled him regarding the circumstances of the alleged harassment.
Naik provided only partial or evasive responses during the questioning, according to an officer in connection with the investigation.
As per the Andhra Pradesh High Court's directions, Naik will be questioned between March 5 and March 9 in connection with the case.
Raju was arrested in May 2021 and was reportedly kept overnight at the CID regional office in Guntur, where Naik had visited several times on the night of the detention.
Naik was included as the seventh accused in the case based on these findings and had failed to comply with multiple notices earlier. He was even arrested in Patna, Bihar, but was unable to be brought to Andhra Pradesh due to the absence of a transit warrant.
