The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has issued a show cause notice to six of its MLAs for voting against the party's decision in the Rajya Sabha polls.

The six MLAs, who were asked to explain their actions, include Chakramani Kanhar, Naba Kishor Mallick, Souvic Biswal, Subasini Jena, Ramakanta Bhoi, and Devi Ranjan Tripathy.

The party alleged that the MLAs had violated party discipline and betrayed the trust reposed in them by voting against the party's direction.

The BJD claimed that the MLAs had voted for a candidate not supported by the party and had displayed their marked ballot to the authorised agent, making their voting pattern clear.

The party has asked the MLAs to reply to the show cause notice by March 20, failing which it will be presumed that they have no explanation to offer.

The BJD has threatened to take disciplinary action, including suspension, against the MLAs if they fail to provide a satisfactory explanation.
