A BJP leader sparked controversy after applying tilak on Lenskart staff in Mumbai, amidst allegations that the eyewear retailer restricted certain religious expressions.
The incident comes as Lenskart faced backlash over its alleged employee dress code, which reportedly allowed hijabs and turbans but barred bindis, tilaks, and sacred threads.
Founder Peyush Bansal clarified that the document was outdated and released a revised style guide permitting a wide range of religious and cultural symbols.
Despite the company's clarification, criticism continued, with some questioning the delay in issuing a clear apology.
