A day after Congress MP Shashi Tharoor praised India's 'restraint' in the West Asia crisis, the BJP has seized on his remarks, with fresh reactions now coming in from the government.
Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth praised Tharoor while taking a swipe at the Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, saying 'Shashi Tharoor always stands with the country... he always says the truth. Rahul Gandhi should learn from this.'
The government has maintained that developments in the Gulf remain a serious concern, with the Ministry of External Affairs warning that recent attacks on energy infrastructure in the region are 'deeply concerning' and add to global uncertainty.
Congress leaders, however, have called Tharoor's remarks 'shameful' and accused the Modi regime of tilting towards Israel.
