Samrat Choudhary will take over as Bihar CM, marking the first time a BJP leader will hold the position. A senior BJP leader and current deputy CM, he is expected to take oath on April 15.

Choudhary comes from a strong political family in Bihar, with his father and mother both serving as MLAs. He began his career in 1999 with the RJD and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a minister in Rabri Devi's government.

Choudhary's career has been shaped by key political shifts, including stints in the JD(U) and BJP. He held organisational roles in the BJP, including state vice-president and Bihar unit president, before being appointed deputy CM in January 2024.

As a key strategist and campaigner, Choudhary has been central to the BJP's outreach and organisational expansion in Bihar, a state where caste dynamics play a crucial role in electoral politics.

However, his political career has not been without controversy, with opposition leaders accusing him of discrepancies in election affidavits and allegations linked to a 1995 murder case.
