The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured a landslide victory in West Bengal's assembly polls, marking its first time in power in the state. According to the results declared on May 4, the BJP won in 206 out of the total 294 assembly constituencies.
Narendra Modi has become the only sitting Prime Minister to win in Bengal since Jawaharlal Nehru. The state witnessed several key contests, with Suvendu Adhikari defeating Mamata Banerjee in her bastion Bhabanipur and also winning in Nandigram against TMC's Pabitra Kar.
However, the result of Bengal's Rajarhat new town constituency is still awaited as the counting is still underway, with TMC's Tapash Chatterjee currently leading.
