Union Home Minister Amit Shah has announced that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will form its government in Uttarakhand for the third consecutive time in 2027. Shah made this statement while addressing a gathering in Haridwar to mark four years of the BJP government in the state.
He highlighted the achievements of the BJP government in Uttarakhand, including the increase in the number of Char Dham pilgrims threefold, connecting every town in the state with roads, providing jobs to youth without 'kharchi' or 'parchi', implementing the Uniform Civil Code, and taking action to identify and remove infiltrators.
Shah criticized the opposition Congress, saying that it is the party associated with corruption and disorder, and that it once opposed the creation of Uttarakhand. He also praised the BJP's leadership in the state, saying that the party has worked to make Uttarakhand the number one among smaller states.
The Union Home Minister also mentioned the development projects undertaken by the Modi government in Uttarakhand, including the Char Dham project, the Delhi-Dehradun economic corridor, and the redevelopment of the Dehradun airport. He also highlighted the increase in the state's per capita income from ₹1.25 lakh to ₹2.60 lakh in nine years.
Shah also praised the work of the Dhami government in Uttarakhand, saying that it has removed over 10,000 encroachments and will continue to identify and act against infiltrators. He also emphasized the importance of a clean voter list to safeguard democracy.
