A parliamentary panel has recommended the government to establish a reserve panel or waitlist system to fill vacancies in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), citing a 15% shortage of personnel.

The committee noted that CBI had 1,088 vacant posts, or 14.90% lower than the sanctioned 7,300 positions, and that the agency was not receiving sufficient nominations from state police.

The panel also recommended a detailed root-cause analysis to examine the reasons for attrition in the sub-inspector cadre, which has a high attrition rate and 77 vacancies out of 500 posts.
