The Chennai International Airport has stepped up its preparedness measures against the Ebola virus, introducing enhanced screening and setting up isolation rooms at the international terminal for arrivals from affected countries.
The airport has set up dedicated isolation rooms at the International Arrival (T-2) for passengers showing symptoms associated with Ebola, with safety and infection-control measures in place to ensure effective containment and passenger safety.
Union Health Minister JP Nadda has assured that no Ebola cases have been reported in India, while directing officials to ensure all surveillance and testing arrangements are in place.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has also issued standard operating procedures (SOPs) for public health preparedness and response to the virus, including in-flight announcements and self-declaration forms for passengers from affected countries.
