The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) has initiated a special housing project for families affected by Naxal violence in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district.

The project has sanctioned 15,000 houses, with Sukma leading the count at 1,756, followed by Bijapur and Narayanpur.

The initiative aims to provide housing support to deserving families, including those who have remained outside existing eligibility norms.

For families affected by violence, a permanent house offers a point of stability, allowing a transition from uncertainty to settlement.

Pawan Kumar, a former Maoist, has benefited from the project and now lives in a safe environment with his family.

The project has also provided support to families like Sodi Hungi, who lost her husband to Naxal violence, and Dashari Bai, whose husband died in a Maoist-related incident.

The phased implementation of the project has brought housing support to thousands of families who were earlier outside the scheme's ambit.
