Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has called for India and China to view each other as 'partners, not rivals' and 'opportunity instead of threat'. Speaking at his annual press conference, Wang said both countries should stick to the direction set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping to improve relations without interference.
Wang highlighted the positive developments in China-India relations, including re-energised interactions at all levels, a new record in bilateral trade, and closer people-to-people exchanges. He also stressed the need for both countries to maintain the correct strategic perception of each other and uphold good-neighbourliness and friendship.
Wang also touched on China's relations with the US, describing it as a 'big year' for the relationship between the two world powers. He expressed hope for a less fraught relationship and called on the US to meet China halfway.
