The Chinese Embassy in Delhi has introduced a streamlined online visa application process for Indian passport holders. Starting December 22, 2025, eligible applicants can submit their applications digitally through the 'China Online Visa Application System' (https://www.visaforchina.cn/DEL3_EN/qianzhengyewu). This new system replaces the previous in-person process, which required numerous paper documents. The online application process offers several benefits, including reduced consulate visits from two to one, real-time status tracking, and the option to pay fees in Indian Rupees via UnionPay, avoiding foreign exchange mark-ups. The system is available for tourist (L), business (M), student (X), and work (Z) visas. The Chinese Embassy's decision to launch this online system comes as part of a broader effort to normalize relations with India. In recent months, the two countries have taken several people-centric steps, including the resumption of tourist visas for Chinese nationals and direct flights. The introduction of the online visa application system marks a significant improvement in the visa application process for Indian nationals. It is expected to reduce the complexity and time-consuming nature of the previous process, making it easier for individuals to travel to China for various purposes.
