Maharashtra cyber police have registered a case against stand-up comedian Pranit More over his controversial '₹370 biryani' remark made during a show.

The incident occurred when a man, identified as 23-year-old Himanshu Jangra, made private details of his date public, including paying ₹370 for a biryani, and More continued to laugh along with the crowd without interrupting him.

Following the backlash, More apologized, stating that the comments made by the audience member do not reflect his views.

Several social media influencers slammed him for failing to stop Jangra when he made the vile remarks, demanding accountability.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has summoned More and Jangra over the controversial remarks, stating that it appears to glorify sexual coercion and non-consensual conduct towards a woman.

The NCW has taken suo motu cognizance of the incident and has sought details regarding the status of an FIR, action taken against those involved, and measures proposed by the state police to ensure that public entertainment platforms do not promote or normalize sexual harassment.
