Comedian and actor Vir Das clarified his identity on X amid the West Bengal election results, stating he is not Bengali despite sharing the name.
In a viral social media post, Das said he is often tagged in posts related to Bengal, with anonymous users implying accountability or association.
Das distanced himself from the assumptions tied to his name, saying, 'My name is Das, but I'm actually not Bengali. I'm half UP, half Bihari.'
He pointed to the culture of mass tagging celebrities like him in political matters without accountability.
Meanwhile, preliminary results from the Election Commission of India show the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leading in 155 seats, while the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is ahead with 121 seats.
