Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar faced criticism after his reaction to a shooting incident at a gala dinner in Washington, DC, which was also attended by President Donald Trump.
Many interpreted Wadettiwar's remarks as appearing to justify the act, suggesting that the attack was long time coming due to Trump's actions.
The Congress leader cited Trump's actions, stating that he has “disturbed” each country and that the US has been ruined to fulfill his own plans.
He also noted that there's anger among the people over Trump's actions and seemed to suggest that a similar mood prevails in India, where there were no protests.
The BJP objected to the Congress leader's remarks, accusing the party of trying to incite protests in India and wishing for an attack on PM Modi similar to what happened in the US.
