The outgoing Leader of Opposition in Kerala, VD Satheesan, has expressed confidence in the Congress-led UDF's chances of returning to power in the state. In an interview with HT, Satheesan highlighted the alliance's strengths, including its broader platform and the support of influencers and opinion-makers. He also emphasized the importance of Kerala in the Congress' scheme of things in India, stating that the party must come to power in the state.

Satheesan acknowledged the factionalism within the Congress, but claimed that the party has taken steps to address the issue. He also addressed allegations of a CPI(M)-BJP deal in certain seats, stating that the CPI(M) is trying to help the BJP in some areas. The Congress leader also promised various guarantees, including free rides for women in KSRTC buses, ₹1000 assistance for college-going girls, and health insurance of ₹25 lakh per family.

Satheesan also touched on the Centre-State tussle on finances, stating that the Congress will try to increase Kerala's share of taxes in the divisible pool and resolve delays in submitting audited accounts of centrally-sponsored schemes. He also acknowledged the low number of women candidates in the UDF and promised to do better in the future.

The Congress leader also responded to allegations of an unholy nexus between the CPI(M) and the BJP, stating that Pinarayi Vijayan is criticising Rahul Gandhi to appease PM Modi. He also emphasized the importance of Rahul Gandhi's role in fighting against the BJP without compromise.
