Congress MP S Jothimani has alleged massive irregularities in the allocation of constituencies and selection of party candidates for the Tamil Nadu Assembly polls. She claimed that constituencies were allocated to suit candidates who had already been selected, and that senior party workers were sidelined in favor of newcomers.

Jothimani accused the party of corruption, saying that 'surveys' were used as a guise to allocate constituencies to candidates with little or no electoral prospects. She also claimed that some of those who were given opportunities to contest elections left the party or became inactive soon after.

The Karur MP called for a proper investigation into the Tamil Nadu Assembly election process and strict action against those responsible for the irregularities. She said that the party must function with honesty and transparency, and that the voices of grassroots workers must be respected.

Jothimani's allegations come at a time when the Congress party is already facing internal strife and electoral defeats. She said that the party's future is at stake and that it must reform itself to stand firmly as a strong opposition force.
