The Congress has slammed the Centre after reports emerged that Pakistan is one of the intermediaries between the US-Israel and Iran in the ongoing war.
Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh claimed that Pakistan's diplomatic engagement and narrative management have been 'markedly superior' to that of the Modi government.
He alleged that President Trump has developed a cosy relationship with the Pakistani establishment, and that Mr. Modi's visit to Israel was a 'singularly disastrous choice' that has made India retreat from a position where it could have mediated.
Mr. Ramesh said that the country is being forced to pay a price for this, and that the prime minister's 'huglomacy' stands brutally exposed.
Reports have emerged that the US is talking with a respected Iranian leader to end the war, but President Trump refused to name the Iranian leader, saying that the interlocutor was a top person who is most respected in that country.
Axios news website quoted a US source as saying that Turkiye, Egypt, and Pakistan have been passing messages between the US and Iran over the past two days.
