Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee president Okram Ibobi Singh has called on the Centre to postpone the upcoming census in Manipur until normalcy is restored.

Citing concerns over data accuracy and logistical challenges, Ibobi warned that flawed data could impact development planning and governance.

He cited past census operations, including the 2001 Census, which continued to influence policy decisions up to 2011.

However, discrepancies in population data led to "abnormal delimitation" in certain districts, with some districts recording disproportionate increases.

Ibobi also highlighted logistical challenges, including internally displaced persons (IDPs) and people living in relief camps.
