The grandson of Nandalal Bose, who decorated the original Indian Constitution, has been removed from the electoral rolls in West Bengal ahead of the Vidhan Sabha elections.

Suprabuddha Sen, 88, and his wife Deepa Sen, 82, have been struck off the list, along with another family member, Chakradhar Nayak.

The Supreme Court has asked Sen to approach an appellate tribunal to challenge the deletion, seeking a quick decision.

Sen, a former Damodar Valley Corporation official, has lived in Santiniketan since retiring in 1996 and has regularly voted in elections.

The court also raised concerns about the deletion of a family linked to the making of the Constitution from the voter list.

West Bengal assembly elections are to be held in two phases: April 23 and April 29.
