The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced a retest for over 3,700 candidates who were affected by a technical glitch during the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for undergraduate courses.

The delay, which occurred on Saturday, affected over 73,100 students in 533 examination centres spanning 306 cities, according to the NTA.

While 69,341 candidates completed their examination, 3,765 candidates were unable to wait and left their respective examination centres without appearing for the test.

The NTA attributed the delay to an error in the systems run by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), which conducts the exam.

The agency has ordered TCS-iON to analyse the causes of the delay and file a report.

The retest will be held as a one-time measure for the affected candidates, who belong to all 533 exam centres across the country.

This is the latest setback to the NTA, which has faced criticism over its standardised tests in the past.

The CUET-UG, for admissions to undergraduate programmes in over 300 universities, is conducted in two shifts.
