The Dehradun Police have rolled out a comprehensive traffic plan to manage the expected influx of tourists heading to Mussoorie over the New Year weekend. The plan, aimed at ensuring smooth traffic movement and public safety, includes designated routes, diversion arrangements, and parking facilities. According to the advisory, tourists traveling from Delhi, Roorkee, and Saharanpur should follow specific routes to minimize congestion. Those coming from Delhi via Haridwar-Rishikesh are advised to take the Haridwar/Rishikesh - Harrawala - Mohkampur Flyover route, while those traveling from Delhi via Mohand will be routed through Mohand-Asharodi-ISBT-Shimla Bypass. To ease congestion within Dehradun city, an alternative route has been marked from Haridwar via Nepali Farm T-junction. Vehicles returning from Mussoorie will be routed via Kuthal Gate - Old Rajpur Road - Rajpur. The police have identified multiple parking locations in Mussoorie, including hotels, Picture Palace, and roadside parking at Gajji Band. Under Plan A, traffic will operate normally, while Plan B will be implemented once 70% of parking capacity is utilized, and Plan C will be enforced if King Craig parking is filled. Designated parking facilities in Dehradun include Rangers Ground, Parade Ground, and MDDA parking near Clock Tower. The police have appealed to tourists and residents to follow traffic advisories, cooperate with on-duty personnel, and use designated parking areas to ensure a safe and hassle-free New Year celebration.
