Delhi Braces for 3-Day Heatwave, Orange Alert Issued

The India Meteorological Department has predicted a heatwave in northwest and central India for the next 3 days, with Delhi expected to experience severe heatwave conditions.

According to a press release, heatwave conditions are likely in isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir, Punjab, East Uttar Pradesh, and north Rajasthan.

IMD has urged people to take precautions, including drinking plenty of water, avoiding direct sunlight from 12 pm to 4 pm, and not leaving kids or pets in parked vehicles.

An orange alert has been issued for Delhi for Sunday and a yellow alert for Monday, with temperatures expected to hover around 43-45°C and minimum temperatures ranging from 25-27°C.

Other parts of the country, including Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow, have also experienced temperatures above 40°C, with a yellow alert issued in some areas of Rajasthan and an orange alert in some areas of Haryana.
