A 21-year-old woman, daughter of a civil servant, was found dead at her Delhi residence on Wednesday morning. Preliminary inquiry suggests she was strangled with a mobile charger cord.
The victim, who was preparing for UPSC exams, was allegedly attacked early in the morning when her parents stepped out for their gym visit.
Police suspect the former domestic help, who was removed from service a month ago, was behind the crime and has been arrested.
Crime scene analysis suggests the accused entered the house around 6:15 am and left around 7:15 am, taking advantage of the family's routine.
Police also suspect signs of sexual assault, but confirmation awaits the post-mortem report.
