Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the Vivek Vihar fire incident, which claimed nine lives, including a toddler, on Sunday.

Initial reports highlight multiple shortcomings in the rescue operations, including a delayed second fire tender and a lack of rescue nets.

The chief minister has directed the district magistrate to submit a comprehensive report detailing the response of all concerned agencies and to investigate the construction of the building where the fire broke out.

The DM has been asked to verify whether there were any violations of building norms or safety regulations.

The chief minister will hold a high-level meeting on Wednesday to discuss alleged shortfalls in the rescue operation.

Gupta met the families of the victims, assuring them of her government's commitment to providing assistance.
