The Delhi Police have arrested contractor Himanshu Gupta from Rajasthan in connection with the death of a 25-year-old biker who fell into an uncovered excavation pit in Janakpuri, west Delhi.

Gupta was apprehended from Udaipur and brought to Delhi for further questioning in the case.

The incident occurred on February 5, when Kamal Dhyani, a resident of Palam Village, plunged into a deep pit on a public road in Janakpuri.

Investigations found that the site lacked basic safety arrangements, including barricades, blinkers, warning signage, and adequate lighting.

The Delhi High Court had earlier refused to grant anticipatory bail to Gupta and another contractor, observing that the incident was a preventable accident caused by negligence.
