A Delhi family's sightseeing trip turned into tragedy after their cruise boat capsized in the Bargi reservoir on the Narmada river, leaving three family members dead.
The boat, carrying 40 passengers, was hit with strong winds and waves and overturned on Thursday evening.
Merina, 39, her four-year-old son Trishan, and her mother, Madhur Massey, 62, lost their lives in the incident.
Merina's sister Treeza Chauhan recounted her last video call to her, where she was seen smiling and showing the cruise boat, but her next call was 'hysterical' as she shouted and cried that they were drowning.
Treeza also revealed that no one was wearing life jackets during the video call, which was 'shocking' for her.
Merina's husband Pradeep described the moments after the boat capsized, saying that water rushed in and he managed to save himself and his daughter with ropes.
He last saw Merina helping her son wear his life jacket before she was lost in the tragedy.
