The Delhi High Court has ruled that a petitioner seeking to lift a ban on BS IV vehicles registered outside Delhi should take their plea to the Supreme Court. Justice Sachin Datta noted that the SC has issued detailed orders on air pollution in Delhi and NCR, and the issue should be addressed by the apex court. The ban, notified by the Delhi government on December 17, prohibits non-BS-VI vehicles from entering the city and includes coercive measures such as impoundment and fines. The petitioner, Sonica Ghosh from Noida, argued that the BS IV framework was implemented without proper requirements and diligence. The high court has disposed of the petition, directing the petitioner to approach the Supreme Court which is already handling air quality issues in Delhi.
