The Delhi High Court has granted former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and 22 others time to file their replies in the Central Bureau of Investigation's (CBI) appeal against a trial court's order discharging them in the excise policy case.
The bench of Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma fixed April 6 as the next date of hearing in the CBI's appeal against the trial court's February 27 ruling.
Kejriwal had approached the Supreme Court appealing the decision of the Delhi high court chief justice rejecting his plea to transfer the case from Sharma's bench.
The CBI had approached the high court, assailing the trial court's order on the ground that the verdict was passed by 'ignoring' the evidence gathered by the agency.
The high court had issued notice in the agency's appeal, observing that the trial court's observations were 'prima facie erroneous.'
Kejriwal and others have challenged the order of the high court and filed a writ petition, which is currently pending in the Supreme Court.
